The weatherkitchen has a rat. It took up residence with us late last month, which was great because we were looking for a subletter anyway. But, like most rats (and subletters), its hygiene is terrible and it doesn’t pay rent, so now we’re trying to get rid of it.

A weatherfriend told me that her kitchen had a mouse last year. She put out 9 traps for it and when she woke up the next morning, she found 9 dead mice. It was an infestation.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure the weatherkitchen has only one rat, but catching it is a pain in the ass. It has escaped the most elaborate rat traps known to man – both professional and homegrown. I suppose we could consult the management company. But I’d rather deal with the rat.

Tuesday’s forecast: meet Fred, the weatherpest.
