A hate incident occurred Oct. 10 in San Nicolas Hall.

Unidentified suspects took elevator number one to the fifth floor of the San Nicolas Residence Hall, at approximately 2:15 a.m. and threw hard-boiled egg yolks onto the floor of the Asian and Pacific Islander hall when the doors opened. The suspects yelled “chink” and then left in the elevator, Conduct Educator and Hate Instances Response Coordinator Brandon Brod said.

A hall resident witnessed the incident and notified San Nic Resident Director Seth Avakian, who notified campus police.

Brod said he, Avakian, Assistant Resident Director Gina Ippilitto and Residential Life Assistant Director Linda Croyle met with residents to discuss the incident. Brod said they held mandatory meetings Tuesday on each floor and a meeting on the fifth floor where the incident occurred. CSOs are doing extra patrols through the building in the evenings, and the Campus Police have been alerted of the situation, as has Dean of Students Yonie Harris.
