The freshman packs are dwindling down to groups of four and five. Some might attribute this to them “settling in,” but I think I know better.

In fact, I think we all know the real reason for this drop in numbers: natural selection. If you don’t believe me, look at the bikepath.

During the course of the year, biking is an easy, relatively safe way to get to class. But this week, riding to class means fording a hellish gauntlet of squealing tires and scraping handlebars.

Don’t worry, though. It’s nothing that a little time or a good “Road Warrior” sequel won’t cure.

Wednesday’s forecast: More freshmen careen their shiny new bikes into unsuspecting stationary objects.
