Yang’s involvement in the UC Thirty-Meter Telescope and issues such as online education and the reinvigoration of the 1960 Master Plan for Higher Education.

UC President Janet Napolitano announced the prospective goal of reducing the UC system’s water usage by 20 percent on Thursday, with plans of reaching this reduction goal by the year 2020.
University officials for the UC system, California State University system and California Community Colleges will discuss the California Master Plan of Higher Education — which first outlined the roles of these college systems back in 1960 — at the upcoming UC Regents meeting on Jan. 22, following the passage of an Associated Students Senate resolution in November that advocated changes to the plan.
Yesterday’s University of California Board of Regents meeting began with a Public Comment session featuring students and workers addressing the rights of union workers and undocumented students, as well as a proposal for a tuition freeze for the 2014 to 2015 school year, made by newly elected UC President Janet Napolitano.
Along with protests against newly-elected UC president Janet Napolitano, the UC Board of Regents meeting that took place yesterday at the Conference Center in UC San Francisco Mission Bay featured discussion of various issues currently affecting UC campuses, such as the role of information technology services.
