SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM
Reveri, a plant-based, vegan ice cream brand, will host a tasting at the Isla Vista Food Cooperative Thursday, Sept. 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. Participants can join this free event and sample a variety of ice cream flavors.

SAY CHEESE
The Isla Vista Food Cooperative recently updated its cheese sets. There will be a cheese tasting Thursday, Sept. 28, at 5 p.m. at the Co-op, where attendees can taste new cheese paired with crackers and new fruit spreads.

HECTIC THURSDAY
The newly-opened Rincon Brewery will be hosting DJ Hecktik Thursday night from 6 to 10 p.m. According to the event’s description on the brewery’s Facebook page, the venue wants to introduce itself to the Isla Vista community through this welcome event with a local DJ. There will be specials on their newly created I.V. Ale. There is no entrance fee for the event.

HILLEL EVENTS
The Santa Barbara Hillel will host Kol Nidre at the Hillel Friday, Sept. 29, from 5 to 9 p.m. A pre-fast dinner will be held at 5 p.m. followed by services at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the Hillel will host “Yom Kippur Day: Services & Break-Fast Meal.” Participants can attend a service at the Hillel and enjoy a complimentary dinner at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome, but the Hillel asks that attendees RSVP by calling (805) 968-1280. The Santa Barbara Hillel is located at 781 Embarcadero del Mar.

WELCOME BACK CONCERT
L.A. dynamic duo THEY., featuring Drew Love and Dante Jones, will perform at Storke Plaza Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. for the Welcome Back Concert hosted by Associated Students Program Board. Inspired by the dynamics of Taking Back Sunday’s vocalists and the lyrics of Kurt Cobain, Love and Jones combine their diverse musical talents to create songs in an effort to break boundaries, according to the event description. ACCESS Cards are required for entry.

VEGAN
A local group called Food Not Bombs will serve free vegan food at 5 p.m. Sunday at Little Acorn Park (next to Bagel Café). Food Not Bombs is an organization that spans the country and is a form of “franchise activism.” They believe that corporate and government priorities are skewed and allow hunger to persist, despite the abundance of food and food waste. Those interested in cooking can email organizers at foodnotbombsislavista@gmail.com. The dinner is regularly held every Sunday.

STUDENT ACTIVIST NETWORK
The UCSB Student Activist Network (SAN) will hold its first meeting Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Isla Vista Community Center. SAN is a campus organization that focuses on social justice movements around Santa Barbara, including strikes, protests and demonstrations. Meeting attendees can learn more about getting involved in SAN while enjoying free pizza.

IVRPD BOARD OF DIRECTORS VACANCY
The Isla Vista Recreation & Park District is looking to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors. Those interested in serving on the oldest governing board in Isla Vista must live and be registered to vote in Isla Vista, submit a statement of interest and a form of economic interest. The application period opened Sept. 25 and closes Thursday, Oct. 5.
