Lola’s large following shows just how popular smoothies and bowls have become as a healthier replacement for ice cream, frozen yogurt or some other cold, thick dessert. Her posts comprise of her own recipes, but also feature others who hashtag their posts with “#nanaicecream.” She sells her book as a PDF file for $10.00 with 43 vegan recipes ranging from “desserts, raw food, smoothies, and savory recipes.” All of the recipes include “simple, wholesome ingredients” that are easy to make and are, of course, delicious!

The journey of these two mothers began in Studio City, California. Both women are busy mothers that understand the difficulty of taking care of themselves in addition to their beloved children. Like the majority of Americans, they too consumed and experienced the effects of the Standard American Diet (SAD) that consists of high amounts of saturated fats, processed foods and animal fats, while being low in fiber, complex carbohydrates and plant-based foods.

The two mothers knew that they needed to find a solution to get more energy, but how? Green smoothies! They went from feeling “exhausted and defeated to being energized and empowered.” The more fruits and vegetables one eats, the more the body craves them. After beginning their Instagram, they also created the “30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge.” After signing up for the challenge, challengers receive weekly shopping lists and five recipes a week to make green smoothies part of their lifestyles. The successful results included “[balancing] blood sugar levels, [getting] off their blood pressure medications, [becoming] healthier and closer with their families, [losing] weight without trying, [having] more energy, and [feeling] better in their bodies.” Not only that, but “Simple Green Smoothies” is aesthetically pleasing, using vibrant, mouth-watering photos as well as integrating graphic design. So if you are seeking a healthier lifestyle or a long-term diet challenge, follow @simplegreensmoothies.
