Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man yesterday on charges of raping a 19-year-old female UCSB student.

The suspect, 23-year-old Victor Farias from Salinas, California, was arrested following an investigation by Isla Vista Foot Patrol and is on active probation in Santa Barbara County for burglary. The victim reported having been raped by Farias at a fraternity house on the 800 block of Fortuna Lane in Isla Vista. Farias had reportedly been visiting a friend at the house.

Farias was arrested yesterday morning at the house and photos from his cell phone related to the alleged rape were also seized by deputies. The suspect is currently being held without bail at the Santa Barbara County Jail.
