On Tuesday, detectives with the Santa Barbara County Criminal Investigations Division arrested 19-year-old UCSB student Scott Lienhart for possession of child pornography found on his cell phone.

Officers arrested Lienhart after finding him in the backyard of his home on the 6600 block of Sabado Tarde Road, where he was manufacturing concentrated cannabis. The detectives were in the process of serving a search warrant at Lienhart’s residence as part of an investigation into his roommate, who had fled a citation for minor in possession of alcohol on Jan. 8. Lienhart was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on the charge of possession of child pornography, although separate charges of manufacturing drugs by use of chemical means and possession of a controlled substance are currently being reviewed by the District Attorney. Lienhart’s roommate was also apprehended, though his identity remains confidential.

Lienhart was released on his own recognizance, meaning bail was not set but he has agreed to appear in court.
