The task force conducting an investigation into last November’s pepper spray incident at UC Davis is scheduled to release its findings this afternoon, following a series of delays due to privacy concerns surrounding the involved officers.

Although the group was initially slated to publish the results on March 6, the date was continuously postponed after Alameda County Superior Court Judge Evelio Grillo granted the Federated University Police Officers Association time to formulate an appeal to redact the names of the officers in question. Former California Supreme Court Associate Justice Cruz Reynoso will present the report at 3:30 p.m. in UC Davis’s Freeborn Hall.

In a March 20 letter to President Yudof, Reynoso said further court-ordered alterations to the report would compromise its integrity.

“Releasing portions of the Task Force report in piecemeal fashion would provide a skewed view of our findings and undercut the rationale behind our recommendations,” Reynoso said in the letter. “In effect, it would provide the campus a distorted view of our work and undermine our efforts with an incomprehensive account of the events that took place. In fact, several Task Force members have indicated they will be compelled to withdraw their support of authorship.”

The public can view the task force’s findings and a live webcast of the event at http://www.ucdavis.edu.
