The UCSB men’s volleyball team established the program’s reputation as one of the best in the nation with a dominating 3-1 (25-17, 26-28, 25-20, 25-23) victory over No. 3 Long Beach State in the semifinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament. The Gauchos now advance to the Conference Championship Match for the first time since 1996.
This weekend, UC Santa Barbara will host the 2011 Big West Championship Tournament for women’s water polo. After finishing the season ranked No. 16 in the nation with a record of 16-11 overall and 3-2 in conference, the Gauchos received the third seed in the tournament and will face sixth-seeded Long Beach State in the second game of the tournament.
Following a 4-1 home stand, the UCSB baseball team will now pack up its bags for a seven-game road trip starting with a three-game series at Riverside today.
