Antoon-Algieri Reaches Milestone In Loss

Scottsdale, AZ – No. 6 Colorado State beat No. 7 UCSB 10-7 in the WCLA National Championship Tournament semifinals at the Scottsdale Sports Complex this Friday. It was the second time that CSU has eliminated the Gauchos from national championship contention.
UCSB was down 3-6 at the half and responded with three straight goals to tie the game at 6-6 with 12:50 remaining. The Gauchos held the Rams scoreless for more than 20 minutes until CSU finally broke through to score.
Senior attacker Ashley Antoon-Algieri scored her 100th point of the season Thursday night. It marks the first time in four years that a UCSB player has reached the 100 point plateau.

Squad Goes 1-2 Against CSUN

UCSB baseball finished with a 1-2 record against Cal State Northridge this past weekend.
After dropping the first two games of the series 4-0 and then 4-2, the Gauchos rebounded behind junior spot starter Matthew Vedo for a 5-1 victory to move to 20-21 overall and 6-9 in the Big West.
On Saturday the Gaucho offense could not muster enough juice to back up the pitching of senior starter Nick Capito, who went seven and two-thirds innings while giving up four runs and striking out eight.
Vedo, normally a reliever, was called upon to start when senior Jesse Meaux was scratched from the game with shoulder pain.
Vedo retired nine of his last 11 opponents during Sunday’s game and the Gauchos closed the series with a 5-1 win.
