Santa Barbara City Council

The council will examine the city’s effectiveness in enforcing existing state laws and city municipal ordinances regarding transient-related street crimes such as panhandling, public drunkenness and trespassing. The council aims to establish concrete guidelines for the police department’s enforcement procedures.

The council will also hear appeals against the Planning Commission’s decision last month to approve the Highway 101 Operational Improvements Salinas Ramps Coastal Development Permit Amendment. The appeals claim the commission has not adequately analyzed the noise, safety and environmental impacts of the project. Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP — owners of Santa Barbara Sunrise RV Park — and Philip Suding will provide public comment during the appeals.
