The Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to two assaults, three vandalisms, a burglary and several alcohol-related crimes this weekend.

Deputies received a report of a physical assault on the 6700 block of Del Playa Drive early Saturday morning. IVFP Lieutenant Ray Vuillemainroy said the victim sustained severe wounds during the confrontation and was rushed to the hospital.

According to Vuillemainroy, deputies arrested the assailant.

The IVFP also dealt with a sexual assault case that occurred Friday night on the 6700 block of DP. As of press time, Vuillemainroy was unable to comment further on the incident.

The first of three vandalisms occurred Friday morning when a male destroyed a taxi card scanner.

“This guy took a cab … and got into a dispute over the cab fare,” Vuillemainroy said. “The suspect grabbed the credit card reader and threw it into the bushes, causing $250 worth of damage.”

The second vandalism occurred Friday night when deputies discovered a male student from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo defacing a wall.

“A Cal Poly student was seen writing his name on a wall with a king-size black sharpie,” Vuillemainroy said. “He apologized for his actions but was arrested.”

Another vandalism was reported on the 6700 block of Sueño Road on Saturday.

“The reporting party called and said a suspect threw a piece of cinder block through the window of his home,” Vuillemainroy said. “No suspect information is available.”

The IVFP also responded to a burglary on the 6500 block of El Greco Road. According to Vuillemainroy, the suspect entered the residence through an unlocked bathroom window.

“The victim came home to find that her laptop, nine pairs of shoes, 20 bras and 26 panties were taken,” Vuillemainroy said.

Officers cited five individuals for minor in possession, one for noise violation and one for urinating in public. IVFP also arrested four people for public intoxication.
