The UCSB men’s club soccer team remains undefeated after two more wins, against San Diego State University and UC San Diego, this past weekend.

On Saturday, the Gauchos faced San Diego State, which was also undefeated. SDSU proved to be quite a challenge for the Gauchos. The game remained tied until the last five minutes due to the tough defensive play of both teams. Even though the Aztecs would not back down, UCSB managed to pull ahead and end the game 1-0. UCSB Head Coach J.T. Hamas was confident in his team’s ability to step up when it was necessary.

“We really have 23 starters on this team,” Hamas said. “That means we can adjust to the team – we’re playing the way that we want.”

Gaucho forward Johnny Lynch finally put the ball in the net and broke the tie after a quick give-and-go play to win the game. Lynch was also the driving force in Santa Barbara’s offense against UCSD, scoring both goals in the 2-1 victory over the Tritons the next morning.
