It is only fitting that on the first day of the campus elections in which students will vote on whether or not to upgrade the current state of the athletic facilities at our university, the UCSB men’s tennis team will be competing in its last regular season matches on the very courts that many students would like to see replaced.

The Gauchos will square off against cross-town rival Westmont at 1:30 p.m. on the RecCen courts in what will prove to be a showcase of the old and the new faces of the 2002 tennis squad.

Both players have spent their entire careers at UCSB and are expecting to have a great deal of fun today. Adding to their pleasure will be their first ever pairing in the doubles competition. The two will represent Santa Barbara at the No. 1 doubles spot against the Warriors top double pair.

“When we used to play together, we played really well,” Kosakowski said. “It is going to be strange knowing that it is going to be our last match together, but it is nice that what we started together we are going to finish together.”
